Listening Room

The Sunship Audio demonstration room in Berlin is where the loudspeakers come to life. Every component in the chain has been chosen to serve the music — not the other way around.

Visitors experience a deliberately screen-free space: no laptops, no streamer apps, no glowing displays competing for attention. Just the music, the room, and the speakers.

The listening room is built around a carefully curated signal path — from digital and analog sources through to the Sunship loudspeakers.

Screen-Free Listening

A core principle of the listening room is the absence of screens during playback. No laptops sit open on the coffee table. No tablet or phone displays glow from the equipment rack. The Auralic Aries Mini streams Qobuz via the Lightning DS app, but the control device stays out of sight once the music starts.

"The listening space should be a place of focus. Removing screens removes the temptation to browse, skip, or analyse — and lets the system do what it was built to do."

This approach draws inspiration from Japanese Jazz Kissa culture, where listening is treated as an intentional act rather than background ambience. The room is set up for seated, attentive listening — the kind where you hear the full weight of a 300 kg speaker pair pressurising the space.

Demonstrations

The Berlin demo room is available for those who want to hear the Sunship loudspeakers in a proper acoustic environment. Qobuz serves as the primary digital source for demonstrations, offering lossless streaming through the Okto Research DAC8 Stereo and ASR Emitter I amplification chain.

Analog playback is equally at home here — the Technics SL-1210 MKII with a Denon DL-103R cartridge runs through either the Nagra BPS or ASR Mini Basis phono stage, depending on the character of the recording.
